Simba is a Dutch non-profit organization that provides and improves healthcare for the most vulnerable groups in the lake zone district of Tanzania since 1998. We do this in coöperation with Faith-based health facilities, providing surgical operations, education, essential medical equipment and medicine.

Activities

Equipment of good quality is essential for delivering safe surgical and anesthesia care. Through the years Simbahealth has been investing on-demand in the supply of surgical tools, equipment and medicine, such as operating tables, theatre lights, X-ray machines and backup generators…

In collaboration with local Hospital management and staff we have built a bridge to strengthen and  provide affordable specialist surgical care for the people in the Region. Through the longstanding relationship we have established a strong partnership with physiotherapists, doctors and Hospital management.

Teaching is an integrated strategy within the activities of Simbahealth. The team visits provide a great opportunity to share knowledge and give on the job training in specialist operations and surgical care.  The present digital society enables a continuous exchange of knowledge and expertise.

We aim to help reduce the 15% global burden of disease by performing life-changing operations. The goal is to help people overcome their illness so they can take part in society again. Main focus is on children with visible deformities (like clubfeet) and neglected trauma. Furthermore adults with traumatic injuries and disabling other surgical problems, like goiters, abdominal wall problems, tumors, etc.
