The art of dreaming big

“The future is determined by what you do, not by what you dream.”

Daniël Schotanus does not entirely agree with this quote from a tear-off calendar. During his last two visits to Sengerema (September 2025 and March 2026), he has been focusing mainly on the dreams that exist within the hospital.

Last year, his goal was to capture those dreams in a comprehensive master plan. During this month's visit, Daniël worked together with hospital staff, management, the Diocese—the owner of the hospital—as well as medical and technical advisors, to translate that master plan into more concrete and ambitious action plans.

These plans will need to be approved this year by various stakeholders, including the Diocese, the government, and the hospital itself. And, of course, by donors who understand the importance of dreaming big and have expressed their willingness to help turn those dreams into reality.
