How time flies..

How time flies when you’re having fun! I’ve just spent the month of September walking around Sengerema. It was wonderful to see the Operating Theatre Complex, where I played a small role in its realization, finally in operation. I think this was my fifth visit to the hospital. And once again, I was given a to-do list:

  1. Check Simba Health’s local finances;

  2. Arrange the final finishing touches of the new Operating Theatre Complex; and

  3. Help the hospital put its five-year plan, the Master Plan 2026–2031, on paper after six months of debate.

These tasks have kept me, even more than before, off the streets and out of the (local) pub. So that “walking around” mostly consisted of going back and forth between the Simba Guesthouse and the Simba Office on the hospital grounds.

Fortunately, I didn’t have to do anything on my own—others had already done a lot of preparatory work. And so I can look back on a successful mission at the mission hospital: Simba’s finances in order, the Operating Theatre Complex completed, and the Master Plan written down.

It’s wonderful when your work is your hobby and your hobby is your work—especially for a retiree.
Still following? Never mind—my wife has already given up trying. She’s probably just glad I’m not sitting at home sulking behind the geraniums.
